WINTER WEAR

When the weather becomes colder everyday, there are more, justified reasons to buy and bring out the warm clothes. This winter, I’ve actually thought smart, and bought clothes that not just look good, but more importantly, will actually keep me warm.

I was in desperate need of a new denim jacket/coat, and this coat provided that little bit of difference to the usual look with the full borg lined style. The jacket can be partnered with almost anything, but as you can see here I went for a simple black t-shirt and necklace. The jacket itself is extremely warm, mainly due to the borg material making up the inside of the jacket. At £42 from boohooman, this is already reasonably priced, with the addition of the many discounts that boohoo provides, this was one of my best purchases by far.

H&M have some really decent mens winter clothing at the moment, especially the jumpers and hoodies. This ribbed zip jumper is somewhat an older look, but provides a casual but stylish look for any occasion. I partnered this with a simple peacoat, just to add a bit of extra warmth. The dark colours combined with these grey Nike trainers are simple but effective.

When I travelled to the Swedish capital of Stockholm, the weather was snow all day, each day, and temperatures of -8. I knew that I was in desperate need of a thick coat to keep me extremely warm… and here it is. This padded coat from H&M was excellent for the cold and wet weather of Stockholm, as well as providing a great new look compared to the rest of my wardrobe. At £40, plus a 20% student discount, I can consider this a bargain. The only downside is the lack of hood for when it really does rain, however the jacket isn’t too thick that you can’t wear a hoodie or jumper underneath.

LONDON FASHION WEEK FESTIVAL

If you’ve read some of my previous posts, you’ll know that as a birthday present, I bought Eesh and I tickets to the London Fashion Week Festival.

#LFWF

Attending the event was certainly a new experience for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I bought us the gold tier tickets, which provided us with a designer tote bag, entry to two catwalk shows and access to the festival until 8pm. I also upgraded the trend and designer catwalk shows to front row seats, to really give us the best experience.

The atmosphere in the London Fashion Week Festival was really cool and chilled. A huge mixture of people shopped around the trend and designer pop up stands, bought food and watched demonstrations. It was really interesting to see other people’s trendy and quirky outfits, with many people getting photos with other random people due to their flamboyant attire.

The designer catwalk show we attended was by Katharine Hamnett. I have to admit, I thought by attending a designer catwalk, I would see the crazy outfits as seen in the actual Fashion Week, that some might debate as fashion. However, I was pleasantly surprised by Katherine Hamnett’s casual fashion designs. I actually saw myself taking an interest in and inspiration from most of her male designs. However, as much I liked them, I couldn’t see myself splashing out the high prices that she charges. I almost question the need for such high prices, when although they were rather nice, the outfits could easily be replicated from normal high street shops.

I would be more than happy to go to the London Fashion Week Festival again next year. It would almost tempt me to pay for the next tier up for tickets, just to provide us with those extra perks. The only thing that held us back from completely enjoying ourselves were the prices of the pop up fashion stands. Eesh and I have grown accustom to finding a good bargain and deal from online and high street shops, even finding cheap clothes extremely similar in appearance to the bigger labels. There were some cheaper clothing for females, but very few cheap clothes, or clothing stands in general, for males.

I would definitely recommend going to the Fashion Week Festival if you’re into fashion, if you like dressing up, or just looking for a present idea for the girlfriend – as this certainly went down well for me!

OUTFIT

Attending the London Fashion Week Festival would be the first time in a long time that I could actually wear some stylish clothes. It was quite a major step for me, as for the first time, I branched out and tried cropped trousers. As you can see, I went for some simple grey pinstripe smart trousers from Topman. To match the soft colour, I wore a white knit sweater from Zara. This knit sweater is perhaps one of my best purchases. I don’t know if it’s just because of the weight I’ve put on, but it seemed to fit well, almost like a muscle fit, whilst also being really stretchy and comfortable. Finally, to work with the cropped trousers and sweater, I wore some simple white and red plimsoles from River Island.

SPENDING MY BIRTHDAY IN BATH

For my 21st Birthday at the beginning of March I was sooo spoilt with presents by my family and my girlfriend Ayeisha. On the day before my birthday, Eesh told me she had booked a night at the BailBrook House Hotel in Bath.

Bath

This was my first time visiting Bath, and I was so excited, considering everyone who’s been before have given it great reviews. Unfortunately, that was the weekend that England had loads of snow, and if you’re from England then you will know how chaotic everything is when it snows! So, because of the snow, the Roman Baths were closed, which is one of the main attractions at the city…

Although it was pretty wet and cold, we could still enjoy what Bath had to offer. The city seemed to have everything, from all the high street shops you could think of, to dozens of trendy bars and cafés.

If you’re eating out in Bath, I highly recommend the Charm Thai Restaurant. If you’re into Thai cuisine, then this is a definite must, as it isn’t only affordable, but the food was amazing.  Pictured below is the Pad Kee Mao dish with chicken. This was incredibly spicy but amazing.

Another restaurant that we tried was Slug and Lettuce. This restaurant gives a similar feel to Wetherspoons, however we were impressed with the quirky and trendy decor. The prices were very reasonable, with a huge selection on the menu.

Outfit

This featured outfit can suit any occasion being somewhat smart-casual! The thin but tight layers provide warmth even on the coldest of days!

The outfit includes the camel smart overcoat from New Look Mens, covering a beige muscle fit jumper from Topman. The beige jumper is a personal favourite of mine, mainly because of the excellent fit, and it provides the perfect smart-casual attire.  To go with this outfit I wore the black ripped jeans from ASOS.

BLACK AND WHITE

This Winter has been extremely cold, and in the last month I’ve been looking for a bigger, thicker jacket to keep me warm. Luckily, I stumbled across one which I instantly wanted.

img_3168

Coats and jackets are perhaps my most favourite item of clothing. I feel that whilst shirts and jumpers can be covered, the jacket/coat is what everyone will see and therefore is essential in making an outfit. Needless to say a nice T-shirt, shirt or jumper is still needed to partner the outfit.

I personally have always liked wearing black clothes, not in a gothic way, but because you can’t beat an outfit that matches well. Of course, everybody knows that black and white can work extremely well. In this case, I partnered a longline white T-shirt from BoohooMAN with the long black parka from Bershka.

This parka coat, which is available in both black and khaki, provides a surprisingly large amount of insulation and warmth, so much so that I can feel too hot when also wearing a jumper, even on the coldest of days… but hey, I’m not complaining!

Of course, I’ve also included black ripped jeans from Asos, as anything black would suit the jacket well, but the rips give that extra casual look and feel.

CAMBRIDGE IN THE COLD

Whilst we usually explore things to do around London, recently me and my girlfriend thought we would try to venture out of our normal travels. As it isn’t too far from my university, we decided to give the city of Cambridge a go…

It is a hard challenge to try and dress well and try out new styles when it is just so cold, and all that you want to do is pile on multiple layers to keep you warm throughout the day.

We also tried to take as many pictures as we could, but unfortunately the cold and the early sunsets halted our mini photo shoots quite quickly.

Outfit

This featured outfit is one of my most common outfits, mainly due to the ease and warmth of it.

img_2722-2.jpg

The outfit includes a grey, knitted jumper with a curved hem from Topman, covered by a black pea coat from Topman. The grey jumper is one of my favourites, as it fits really well, the only thing I don’t like is the overly-long sleeves. To go with this outfit I wore the black ripped jeans from ASOS. Recently purchased and shown in a recent blog post, these jeans go really well with most outfits.

FINDING KOREAN CUISINE IN LONDON

The diversity of cuisines in London is amazing, allowing anyone to walk along most streets with multiple options for choice. Those who know me may think that I am very repetitive and attached to the food I eat, but I am never one to shy away from trying new food, and that was the plan for the weekend that just passed.

Kimchee

Our choice in cuisine for lunch was Korean, in which we travelled to Holborn in London to try the Kimchee restaurant for the first time.

img_2554

img_2555

Pictured above, I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap with chicken. This £9.40 dish involves a hot pot of a selected meat, rice, vegetables, egg and red chilli paste. With so many flavours this dish was really good, although perhaps some might find this a bit dry if the chilli pasta isn’t appealing! As seen in the picture above, crispy battered king prawns in a sweet and spicy sauce were ordered as a £6.90 side order. Now these were really really good. The food was definitely filling, so the price definitely reflects the quality and size of the food. As this was my first time, I am definitely excited to try more options on the menu, most likely the pot dishes, however I would still recommend what I ordered. Have a look at the full menu here.

Unfortunately I wasn’t the happiest with the service, wether it was due to it being busy, we (and we noticed others) had to wait a while for any kind of attention from the staff, as well as the service tip being automatically added to the bill, when I was having an inner debate wether to even pay it. That aside I would definitely still recommend a visit to Kimchee.

Outfit

This featured outfit is my most common outfit, mainly due to the ease of it, whilst being somewhat smart-casual!

The outfit includes the beige MA1 crew neck sweatshirt from BoohooMan, covered by a black pea coat from Topman. The beige sweatshirt is a personal favourite of mine, mainly because of the excellent fit, and it provides the perfect smart-casual attire. If you love the look of it like me it will only set you back £8 as a sale item on BoohooMan, or even cheaper with there constant additional sales! To go with this outfit I wore the black ripped jeans from ASOS. Recently purchased and shown in a recent blog post, these jeans go really well with most outfits.

STANDING OUT | AW17 TRENDS

Hi guys!

So my recent purchases have followed the latest AW17 trends and all thats featured were great bargains.

img_2380

Standing out with AW17 trends.

Judging by the amount of it seen online and in clothing stores, I think its quite evident that bright colours are in. The bright colours of orange and red seem to really stand out, although I’ve seen bright yellow as well, of which my girlfriend seems to be trying.

The first outfit is the red and navy panel sweatshirt from Topman, paired with Yourturn super skinny black jeans with knee rips from ASOS. To complete the look I’m wearing Nike Air Max in white.

I really like this panel sweatshirt as I’ve become a massive fan on the retro look of brands such as Fila, however not so much of a fan of the price tags, and this jumper replicates the look with a cheaper price. For £30 (£26 if you are fortunate enough to have a student discount like me) this is definitely a great bargain and substitution to other, more pricy brands.

The second outfit includes a red hoodie (called a hooded top on the website) from H&M, paired with a harrington jacket from ASOS. To contrast the bright red hoodie I’ve worn blue jeans from Topman.

The hoodie featured will definitely look familiar as like I said, bright red is definitely in this season. I think it would work well with a lot of different styles, different colour jeans and even a coat, although its not really one for a subtle look!

CALM COLOURS

Calm Colours for Autumn.

So the Summer season is quite clearly at an end now as we haven’t had some good weather in England for quite some time. Most days I’ve had to wear a jacket or at least a jumper when going out so it looks like it is now onto Autumn clothing.

I’ve been fortunate enough to get in early on the sales and come out with  amazing deals on these calm colours that will really fit into the Autumn season.

The first outfit is a pink oversized sweatshirt from Asos paired with a longline t-shirt from Topman,  Finally I’m wearing my ASOS Skinny Black Jeans to complete the look.

Similarly, the second outfit includes the longline white t-shirt and the Stone Ribbed Muscle Fit Jumper from Topman.

GYM LIFE 001

Hi everyone!

I’m really determined to take it seriously and progress in the gym and getting the physique that I want! Now that I’m back at university that should be a lot easier with the amount of free time I have.

I’m also hoping that this marks the start of a series of gym posts, showing progress pictures and possibly even my own workout routines (if it pays off).

img_2057

I’ve also bought some little bits to help my on my fitness journey. A Nike Outlet has this excellent slim fitted running/football top for £16, as well as a added discount which surprised me!

img_2055-1

As for the Nike socks, who doesn’t like a nice branded pair to go with a pair of trainers!

GOING FOR GREEN

IMG_9785.JPG

img_1972

I couldn’t believe it when I saw that this jacket was £15 in the sale at Zara. It has a good thickness to it that provides warmth and dryness yet is not too heavy. Whilst the Khaki colour seems to have been a trend for a while, I feel the style of the jacket isn’t that popular… yet!

The black jeans worn with this outfit are from ASOS, which is a great pair of skinny jeans for such a reasonable price of £25.

Another part of my green wardrobe collection is this hooded bomber jacket from ASOS. Whilst it may set you back £45, it provides an easier option than having to wear multiple layers with the usual bomber jacket, just for waterproof protection.
